Common Questions
It do! Having needles pierce your skin hurts. The real question is 'How much does it hurt, and can I handle it?' It's not nearly as bad as what you would imagine. The pain comes from the cluster of needles on the tattooing machine piercing your skin rapidly. This sensation, however, doesn't feel like the pain of an injection - it's more of a constant vibration. You will be amazed at how quickly your body releases endorphins, which dulls the pain significantly. The pain will vary depending where on your body you get tattooed. Skin right above bones tend to be more painful than other areas. In addition, certain types of needles seem to hurt more than others.

Probably. While we welcome walk-ins, our artists are typically busy working with clients from day to day. So to you will more than likely need an appointment to get tattooed. The best way to get started is to send one of our artists a message via the form on their page. Also feel free to call the shop at 251.210.8081 or email us at shop@manowartattoo.com
Sorry, we do not do piercings.
NO. While it is technically legal to tattoo minors in Alabama with parental consent, you must be at least 18 years old to be tattooed at Man O War. Sorry, no exceptions.
This will vary from artist to artist. Contact the artist you are interested in working with for more details.
Please contact the artist you want to work with regarding payment options.
We do not perform tattoo (lazer) removal here at our shop. We recommend a licensed dermatology, oconcology or plastic surgery clinic. Lazer removal is relatively affordable and very effective for significantly fading existing tattoos if not removing them altogether. We normally recommend lazer removal for clients who's existing tattoo is too dark to be covered by a new tattoo.
There is no charge for consultations.
Aftercare instructions will be provided to you by the artist at the time of your tattoo.
